Apple Computer Inc. It should come as no surprise to those who know me, that I would include Apple. I don't think they are perfect, but since 1987 they have been my computer manufacturer of choice. I can see some good things about every computer and operating system, but for me, a Macintosh running MacOS X is as good as it gets in one package. Maybe you should switch to Mac just like Tweek did. |

Mac Fixit I know there are a lot of Mac news sites out there, but this has been my favorite for several years. I like the focus on troubleshooting tips and the reports about techinal issues with new releases. |

This is my favorite way to search for things on the web. Since I spend so much time there, I thought I would include it here. Give it a try. |
Version Tracker This site is the best place to go if you are looking for Mac software. It is constantly updated to keep track of new releases. There are user reviews so you can share the experiences of others as well. |

ObjectiveDevelopment The creators of LaunchBar. This is one of the best utilities I have ever seen for launching applications. It works so well that I think it should be a part of the OS. LaunchBar provides fast access, via the keyboard, to all of your applications, web-bookmarks, and email addresses. It uses a powerful, adaptive abbreviation search algorithm that allows you to enter any thinkable abbreviation of the searched item. It even learns your typos and accepts them. |

The Resort This is a telnet talker. In the days before AOL chat rooms and IM, this was how people were able to lie about their age, looks, occupation and wealth. Seriously though, I used to spend a ridiculous amount of time chatting on here. My handle is Zorro. I have met a lot of interesting people since I first started using it in 1995. I don't get on frequently these days, but I wanted to include it here because of all the fond memories. |

"Weird Al" Yankovic I think "Weird Al" is a musical genius. It is true that his music can be silly, but it makes me laugh. I really admire the skill with which he creates "funny" music. He is a very versatile singer and his long time bandmates are very talented as well. I never get tired of listening to his songs. That is more than I can say for the average pop phenomenon. I went to see two of Al's "Touring With Scissors" shows back in 1999/2000. I have all of his major releases on CD. I will not buy the crappy compilations. I ripped everything to MP3, so I can make my own compilations anyway. If you want to learn more about Al, then buy some of his CD's, or at least go visit his website. |

Dilbert Dilbert is an engineer. He is about thirty, and works at an undisclosed high-tech company in Northern California. He lives with his dog, Dogbert, who bears a striking resemblance to Dilbert (including glasses and the ability to speak). Dilbert is very intelligent and kind-hearted, which makes him particularly ill-suited for life on this planet. Dogbert is also intelligent, but with a cynical edge. In contrast to his master, Dogbert has such a simple, yet keen understanding of human nature that his perceptions seem ridiculous to Dilbert. Check out a site dedicated to the comic strip about your favorite office worker. |

Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy Douglas
Adams is no longer with us, but his story of hitchhiking the
galaxy lives on. I enjoyed the books immensely. There
is a nice collection of information gleaned from that universe at
The Hitchhiker's Guide Project. This
site is a good source of pictures and other information.

Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America CCFA's mission is to cure and prevent Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis through research, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these digestive diseases through education and support. One thing the CCFA site won't have is this behind the scenes sound byte of an experience I had. |

Papa John's Pizza This is some pretty good pizza. I don't know if it is the best, but it is good quality at a reasonable price. Best of all, they let you order online. No more of that getting put on hold by some guy who barely speaks English. |

Copy Protection Robs the Future This is an interesting piece, which discusses the problems with overzealous copy protection. Will there come a time when we cannot preserve works of art from the past because copy protection will not allow us to move them to new storage mediums?www.bricklin.com/robfuture.htm This is from a personal web site maintained by Dan Bricklin (co-author of VisiCalc). It has historical information on many subjects, including VisiCalc, some of his thoughts and writings, material from others that he finds interesting, and biographical information for reporters and researchers. It also has hundreds of unique pictures of interest to people in the computer industry. |
