I had the bright idea that I could cut the stumps even lower. DO NOT DO THIS! The root wood was very dense and difficult to cut. In addition I foolishly got into the dirt a little. This combination dulled my chain before I even realized it was happening. I have since purchased a hatchet. I am going to keep an eye on the stumps, breaking them up as they dry and chopping down any sprouts that dare to show themselves.
