Stickseed (Hackelia virginiana) is named for the prickly globoid fruit that replaces each flower. Prickles densely cover the surface of this fruit. Each fruit is initially whitish green, but later becomes brown; it contains 4 nutlets. These sticky seeds are very good and clinging to hair and clothing.
