Hedge bindweed (Calystegia sepium) is a hardy plant. We were very impressed with how it thrived in this harsh environment and managed to cover the mailbox without any help. Some people fear the success of this plant because it can cover other prairie plants and knock them down. We haven't had that happen yet, so perhaps our opinion will change in the future.
