This was a little experiment where I cut the parkway lawn as short as I could in late June and then left it for the rest of the summer. The grass hardly grew during the hot summer, but pilewort (Erechtites hieracifolia), horseweed (Conyza canadensis) and spotted spurge (Chamaesyce maculata) stepped in.
