This sapling is probably not native, but we decided to let it live anyway. It was in the way of some other work we did on the side of the house, so we transplanted it here. Almost immediately, some animal started digging up the roots every night. We think it might be the opossum that was living under the deck. We put a stop to that by protecting the base with some logs.
